Cashmere Only Comes From Goats!

Hidden Brook is currently home to an award-winning herd of North American Cashmere Goats.
Our goats produce fleeces that run from 14 to 18 microns, with yields from four to 12 ounces of raw fiber per season, depending on the goat. We breed for fiber quality, solid and sound build, superior health, and high fleece yield.
Goats in our herd who don’t meet our fiber quality standards, either from the unfortunate genetic luck-of-the-draw or coarsening with age, are retired from our breeding program, but never culled. Fleeces over 18 microns are reserved for our cashgora sock yarns.
All of our cashmere fleeces are hand-combed each spring, and all of our fiber is processed locally, right here in Eastford, at Still River Mill.
Our herd also includes our dedicated (if ill-tempered) livestock guardian llama, HOLR Shy Ann.
Hidden Brook Farm is part of the Cashmere Goat Association, and we are working toward qualifying our entire herd for CGA registration. For more information about cashmere goats, visit the association’s Web site, www.cashmeregoatassociation.org.
